The moonlit kingdom of Shouren, situated on an archipelago in the North Sea. It is comprised almost entirely of jagged, unscalable mountains. The only way to enter the kingdom is through its southernmost gate which is connected to the mainland of Xalas by a very long land bridge. The Shou have a strict isolationist policy so outsiders are rarely permitted to enter and never permitted to stay. Shouren is the home of the West Oracle, whom Iona and company seek out to inquire about the whereabouts of Iona’s brother. The country’s latitude causes it to remain in constant night throughout most of the winter.
